ENERGY STAR certification is temporarily suspended for the following primary property types:
- Financial offices
- Bank branches
- K-12 Schools
- Retail store
- Warehouse club/ supercenter
- Distribution centers
- Houses of Worship
What's not affected?
- These property types: Multifamily, data center, hospital, senior care, and manufacturing facilities are not affected by this temporary suspension.
- Design properties may still apply for Designed to Earn ENERGY STAR (DEES)
- Buildings of any type located in Canada are not affected.
EPA is working to reinstate certification as soon as possible (by early 2019), and will resume accepting applications by property type as each model is re-evaluated (which will happen on a rolling basis).
