A solar Power Partnership Agreement (PPA) is an agreement where you rent your roof space to someone else who owns solar panels.
Enter the energy that you purchase from these solar panels as an electric onsite solar meter. If you did not buy the RECs, then select that the RECs are "Sold." If you bought the RECs, then you would say the RECs are "Owned."
RECs ownership will affect different metrics in different ways. Regardless of REC ownership, the electricity from your solar panels is not subject to the same transmission and distribution losses as grid electricity, so your site-to-source conversion factor for onsite green power will be 1.0, which will improve your ENERGY STAR Score and Source Energy metrics. However, if you do not own the RECs you will not see an improvement in your emissions metrics. When calculating emissions metrics, the electricity from your solar panels will be treated like electricity purchased from the grid and regionally-appropriate greenhouse gas emissions factors will be applied when calculating GHG metrics.
