Is Portfolio Manager slow today? Follow

We’re sorry the system seems slow for you today.  We have a number of mechanisms in place to monitor our systems and to respond to performance issues automatically, but sometimes there can be short disruptions to your service. Please try logging in again in 20 minutes. If the problem persists, please email us. 

Slow performance for more than 20 minutes could be caused by a few things:

  • Underlying hardware/software – We continuously upgrade our underlying IT infrastructure to stay ahead of the latest updates, patches and security features. However, sometimes modifications to these settings can cause unintended slowness.
  • Bugs in our code – Sometimes when we release a new feature there could be a bug in our code or an inefficiency in how we perform calculations. A bug like this could cause slowness and may be limited to specific features.
  • Partner activity – Occasionally, the system may slow down when a lot of users are logged in at the same time, especially if people are performing resource-intensive activities (like running reports for thousands of properties).
  • Network activity – Sometimes there is excessive activity on our overall network, which includes the ENERGY STAR website.  High volume activity can be created by automated systems, similar to what happens with robo-calls and automatic emails. This type of activity can temporarily slow things down for our users.

We have continuous monitoring systems in place to find and resolve all of these issues.  Unfortunately, because there are several overlapping factors we will occasionally experience periods of slow service. We apologize for the inconvenience, and ask that you please let us know if you have any problems.  The more we know about the problem (time of day, screen shot of an error message, etc.), the quicker we can identify the problem and resolve it. 

We've implemented these restrictions on large accounts to help with system performance.
