When your property changes its Gross Floor Area (GFA) through an addition, you would update it in 2 places:
- The “Property GFA – Self-Reported” on the Details tab, under “Basic Information” to reflect your new total Gross Floor Area.
- The GFA for the Property Use that has changed, by “Updating with New Information” from the Action Menu.
Because your GFA is a time-weighted value, you will get an error (that your Self-Reported GFA doesn’t match the EPA-Calculated GFA) for 11 months after you make this change. Ignore the error, and in 12 months, both GFAs should match your new, expanded GFA total.
