How do I apply for ENERGY STAR Certification?

You apply to ENERGY STAR Certification from within Portfolio Manger. Eligible properties will have a link to apply at the top of the screen. For step-by-step instructions, see our "How To" Guide.

ENERGY STAR certification is awarded to eligible facilities that earn an ENERGY STAR score of 75 or higher, indicating that it performs better than at least 75% of similar buildings nationwide.

Certification is given on an annual basis, so a building must maintain its high performance to be certified year to year. And the information submitted in the certification application must be verified by a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) to be eligible for approval.
