How do I connect to my utility provider? Follow

In order for your utility to be able to exchange data with your properties and automatically upload your energy and/or water consumption data into Portfolio Manager, you will need to send a connection request to your utility.

  1. In Portfolio Manager, click the "Contacts" link in the upper right.
  2. On the Contacts page, click "Add Contact."
  3. Search for your utility's account by username, account holder name or email. We recommend searching by username for the best results. Contact your utility company if you are not sure of the  username.
  4. Once you find your utility's account, click the blue "Connect" button on the right to send them a connection request. Once they "accept" it you will be able to share properties with them so that they begin exchanging data with those properties via web services. When your utility accepts your connection request, a notification will appear on your MyPortfolio page.


There are several ways to share properties with your utility once you've connected with them. The quickest way is to go to the Sharing tab, click Share a Property, then select the property(ies) that you'd like the utility to update. On the same page, select the utility's account name as the Contact with which  to share. In order for the utility to provide routine consumption data updates, you'll need to grant their account “Data Exchange” permissions with “Full Access” to the properties and meters that you'd like them to update. Once those permissions have been set, click "Share Property(ies)."
